Towamensing Trails is one of the larger communities in the Poconos and has been oriented as a vacation home community since its development in 1971. It is located in Carbon County, midway between Lake Harmony and the town of Jim Thorpe, both popular Pocono destinations. Its location, low costs and history as a vacation home community have Towamensing Trails in our Top 10 STR Communities in the Poconos.

The community has modest amenities, crowded on weekends. These include a 190-acre lake, a clubhouse with pool, beach and boat rental, and a nearby marina also with sports courts and a playground.

Property owners and their renters must comply with a set of rental restrictions and rules of conduct, as well as those of Penn Forest Township. Recent Board of Directors elections have brought candidates with a balanced view of STR and an election survey expressed community support for STR. The community has one set of rules for residents and a different set-of rules for vacation renters. According to the Census Bureau, there are 2,246 housing units in Towamensing Trails, 628 of which are occupied (full-time), there are reported to be close to 400 licensed STRs here.
