As one of the largest vacation communities in the area, Towamensing Trails features a 190 acre lake and modest community amenities, it has been a popular vacation home destination since its founding. Property owners and their renters must comply with a set of rental restrictions and rules of conduct, as well as those of Penn Forest Township.  Recent Board of Directors elections have brought candidates with a balanced view of STR and an election survey expressed community support for STR. The community has one set of rules for residents and a different set-of rules for vacation renters. According to the Census Bureau, there are 2,246 housing units in Towamensing Trails, 628 of which are occupied (full-time), there are reported to be close to 400 licensed STRs here.
